Traditional Australian cookie that hearkens back to WW I. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. ANZAC day is April 25.

ANZAC Biscuits (Cookies)

1/4 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 Tbsp. golden corn syrup or treacle
1 tsp. baking soda

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup coconut

Heat water, sugar, butter or margarine, golden syrup and baking soda slowly to a boil.  Remove from heat and stir in flour, rolled oats and coconut.  Using two spoons, form cookies and place onto greased cookie sheets.  Bake at 350*F for 8-10 minutes.
