Weekly Challenge #3 – Make Granola
Posted on February 15th, 2010 in Recipe, Weekly Challenge!
It’s Monday. Time for another Weekly Challenge!
I think I’m going to be trying either my mom’s or my older sister’s tried-and-true granola recipe. They make granola all the time. Not me. I seem to recall attempting it many years ago. And burning it. Or some such thing.
Do you have a favorite granola recipe to share?

No suggestions, but I have always wanted to make it myself so if you find a keeper of a recipe I’d love to know it!!
Thanks for the kind comment earlier

Hi Jessica! Thanks for stopping by! My first batch of Mom’s Granola was so easy and turned out yummy, that I’ll be sure to be trying more! No doubt there will be more varieties of granola recipes, upcoming.

I have a couple favorite recipes but I’m going to share my very favorite. It’s not a basic morning granola but almost a dessert granola. That hasn’t stopped me from having it for breakfast though!
It’s delicious fresh out of the oven and a whole new delicious with cold milk.
It comes from The Urban Homemaker:
10 c Old Fashioned Oats
1 1/4 c honey
1/2 c molasses
3/4 -1 c peanut butter
1 T cinnamon
1 1/2 t salt
3 t vanilla
3 c raw chopped nuts
2 c raw sunflower seeds, optional
1 c sesame seeds, optional
1-2 c shredded coconut, optional (not in my opinion though!)
rasions or other dried fruits if desired
Preheat oven to 300.
Mix oats, seeds, and nuts well.
In a saucepan, combine the honey, peanut butter, molasses, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. Heat until all ingredients are combined. Pour the “syrup” over the dry ingredients and mix well, using hands to mix thoroughly.
Spread the mixture onto several 9×13 pans or jelly roll pans. Stir occasionally while baking for 30 minutes. Bake longer for a crunchier texture. Add dried fruits after the mixture has cooled.
Hugs from MN! xoxo
