I met my first Challenge of the Week, which was to make my first ever Ice Cream Cake. I think I can say, “It was a success!”, if the clean bowls at the birthday party were any indication! :) I promised to get this post up today, so here it is. More detailed instructions will follow in a later post on how I did it – with a little innovation and the help of some cereal boxes (which you may be able to see in the background).

The second part of the challenge was to conduct a birthday party where the girls made Build-A-Bear kits. That also turned out pretty well. I’ll have to get a picture up of my daughter’s completed bear a little later.

In the meantime, I have to say goodbye to my current computer, which is on its way out (cough, cough, hack, crash), and move on to another. I feel a little sad – we have had a long working relationship.

Here’s a picture of the cake after a final ‘icing’ of vanilla ice cream, and a slightly melted attempt at ice cream decoration (using a decorator bag and tip) around the base. After this quick picture, I popped it right back into the freezer!

And here’s a picture of the (mostly eaten) cake after the party where you can see the layers inside.
